Multifocal or accommodating intraocular lens
Standard IOLs, known as monofocal IOLs, allow only distant objects to be focused and seen clearly. This problem after showed that participants who received accommodative IOLs had improvements in near vision at six months and at 12 months after surgery compared to those who received monofocal IOLs.
Basic monofocal IOLs provide clear vision with the use of spectacles.
Astigmatism correcting lens implants or laser cataract surgery can be used for patients to reduce or eliminate their astigmatism in our astigmatism correction package.
Astigmatism correction surgery will enable you to see clearly far away without glasses.
These artificial lenses are also viable options for some patients who have not yet developed visually significant cataracts but still want to reduce or eliminate their need for glasses.
This is done with a procedure known as Refractive Lens Exchange, or RLE.
